On February 22nd, The Indiana University Kokomo tennis team hosted Saint Francis
(Ind.) at the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center for their second match of the season.
In singles action, Maria Oliveira defeated her opponent 2-0, with sets of 6-2,6-2. Reiley
Hiser nearly skunked her opponent 2-0, with sets of 6-0, 6-1. Chloe Schmidt, Kennedy Perrin,
and Molly Farkas also won their singles matches. USF’s lone victory came at #2 singles.
In doubles action, the Cougars pulled out the brooms and swept the meek and weak USF
Cougars. Oliveira and Hiser emerged the victors in their matchup, 6-3. Larissa O’Rourke and
Schmidt also rose to the occasion and defeated their rivals for the day, 6-4. The duo Perrin and
Farkas also escaped the match victorious, 6-4.
Head Coach Kristine Miller was pleased with the overall performance of the team.
“We are pretty banged up right now, so this was a tough match where some players are in
spots they aren’t normally asked to be in,” Miller said. “Even still, we rose to the occasion, and
you can consider me a proud coach,” Miller added.
