Thursday, January 26th: The Indiana University Kokomo Cougars faced off against the Carlow Celtics. Carlow has so far been off to a rough start to their season posing a measly 1-20 record (0-10 in the conference). IU Kokomo has been finding its stride as they have been receiving some votes to be ranked in the poll of the top 25 teams in the country.

The Cougars have a record of 15-5 (9-1) in the conference. Heading into the game, senior Hunter White leads the team in scoring pouring in 15.8 points per game. Senior Zach Rinehart leads the team in rebounds with 7.3 a game. White also leads the team in assists putting up 3.7 a game.

Senior Xavier Hines scored the first basket of the game swishing a triple in the corner off the assist from junior Hunter Jackson. Hines sank another triple a few possessions later off another assist from Jackson. Hines did it again a few seconds later smacking another 3-pointer making it his 9th point in just 3 minutes of game time.

With under 3 minutes left in the first half, Rinehart found freshmen Evan Kretz in the corner where he connected from downtown extending the Cougars’ lead to 15. At the end of the first half the score was IU Kokomo 46 Carlow 27.

It was much of the same in the second half, as the Cougars will improve to 16-6 and 10-1 in River States Conference play. Hines led all scorers dropping 18 points. Harris led the team in rebounds snagging 9 of them as well as having 17 points. The Cougars walk away victorious final score IU Kokomo: 98 Carlow: 50.
