Tennis sweeps Saint Francis 7-0
The Indiana University Kokomo Tennis team took care of business on Feb. 15 when they took on Saint Francis University, as the Cougars won every match, in an impressive performance all around.
In doubles, senior Andrea Saylor and sophomore Reiley Hiser won 6-0. They were followed up by junior Larissa O’Rourke and freshman Maria Oliveira who were also victorious, winning 6-2.
Since IU Kokomo won the first two doubles matches, there was no need for them to go to the third doubles match.
In singles action, senior Gabbie Orlando defeated her opponent with sets of 6-0, 6-1. Oliveria followed Orlando and was victorious with sets of 6-0, 6-2. Next up was Hiser, who like Orlando, won 6-0, 6-1. Saylor followed suit from Oliveira winning 6-0, 6-2. Freshmen Lillianne Fishero closed out the day winning 6-0, 6-0.
The Cougars improve to 3-5 while Saint Francis falls to an abysmal 0-11.
“Overall, every match was exciting, it was nice to get a win in this type of fashion,” Hiser said. “The whole team was super hyped and emotionally we all were into it.”
The Cougars are back at it on Feb. 22 when they square off with Indiana Wesleyan University.
