Are you in the mood for some holiday cheer in a cup? Well you are in luck, stop in now through Jan 31 to try the six new holiday drinks available at the Ground Up Cafe here on campus.
Luckily for you, I tried them all so you don’t have to! Here are my rankings and personal recommendations of all six drinks:
#1: Toffee Nut Delight Frappe
This frappe is made with English toffee syrup and white chocolate all blended together with a coffee base and topped with whipped cream. It is the perfect blend of sweet and bitter. This was the one I was most nervous to try but surprisingly ended up being my favorite of all the drinks. If you enjoy the caramel frappe this is the perfect holiday alternative.
#2: Peppermint Hot Chocolate
This is the perfect holiday twist on a classic hot chocolate. The peppermint adds the perfect cooling effect alongside the rich chocolate flavor. I am usually not a fan of hot drinks but this is one I would come back for again and again.
#3: Peppermint Mocha
This drink includes peppermint syrup and milk chocolate or white chocolate. I am a lover of any type of mocha which is why I have ranked this third. You can’t go wrong with this drink and it is a great pick me up at any time of the day.
#4: Cinnamon Roll Frappe
This frappe is made with cinnamon and vanilla syrup and white chocolate blended in a coffee base. I was looking forward to trying this frappe and was a little disappointed. It was good but the flavor wasn’t as strong as I was expecting, which is why I placed it fourth. If you decide to try this drink for yourself and prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor add another pump of syrup.
#5: Candy Cane Frappe
This frappe is made with peppermint syrup, white chocolate, and half and half blended in a cream base. It tastes like a peppermint milkshake. I have placed it fifth because I need my caffeine but it has a great flavor overall.
#6: Gingerbread Latte
This drink includes gingerbread syrup and white chocolate. I was not sure what to expect with this drink. Gingerbread syrups can be a hit or miss and unfortunately this one was a miss for me. The taste almost reminded me of a candle, which is why I placed it sixth.
All lattes and mochas can be served hot or iced and all drinks can be subbed out with your preferred milk alternatives, even the frappes. Do you have a favorite holiday drink? Share them in the comments section!
