Experience published artworks created by students at the Field Live! exhibit in the Art Gallery until Dec.18.
This exhibit includes original versions and recreations of artwork published in Field: A Journal of Arts and Sciences vol.9, including photography, paintings, creative writing, poetry, research and more.
Artist Bailey Howard is featured in the exhibit with photography work, “The Elephant” and screen print series, “Ele-fun.”
“The Elephant” is seen on postcards and other promotional materials for vol 9. The image is produced from a hand-crafted scene using fairy lights, glitter, and other small items. This piece inspired her to create an immersive experience that puts the viewer inside the image.
The continuation of her work, “Ele-fun” includes a gallery of screen prints with crazy ink combinations that brings Howard’s photography work to life.
Field has made it possible for artists like Howard to publish their work as they advance in their careers.
“Publishing opportunities can be easy for some to find, but for others it can be hard to find ways to get published” she says, “I am happy to have had this opportunity through Field.”
Howard is a senior majoring in NMAT (new media, art, and technology) and minoring in psychology. She is currently applying to graduate school to further her education in hopes of working as an art therapist.
To be considered for Field vol. 10 students can submit work through the website (link website) until Dec. 16. Entries can include audio recordings, photography, sculpture, drawing/painting, creative writing, poetry/prose etc…
